<\/td>\nREPORT ON THE TOP 100 MANUFACTURERS IN THE DOOR AND WINDOW INDUSTRY IN THE AMERICAS AND CANADA MARKET 2019<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nLast year, Atis Group Inc. achieved gross sales of $100 to $200 million in residential sales.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nThey attribute their growth to acquisitions made over the past five years.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nWindow & Door\u2019s annual Top 100 Manufacturers lists the details of North America’s largest 100 residential window,<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\ndoor, skylight, and related product manufacturers based on sales volume. Most of the information comes directly from companies, verified and checked for accuracy by our research team.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nOur team also researches and verifies the accuracy of information for companies that did not participate in our survey, indicated by a star next to their names.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nThis year’s list further solidifies what we’ve seen for several years: the industry continues to grow healthily.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nA PATTERN OF GROWTH<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nThis year’s survey questioned whether companies have experienced measurable growth over the past five years.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nOnly seven companies said no, but 10 companies answered “not sure.” Seven companies reported revenues that placed them in higher categories than in previous years.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nYear over year, only one company on this year’s list reported lower gross sales in 2018 compared to 2017. Almost every company reported higher revenues.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nAccording to research conducted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Commerce, the increased sales volume makes sense against a 2.8% gain in single-family starts in 2018.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nAccording to the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies at jchs.harvard.edu, remodeling continues to be a boon for product manufacturers with the U.S. home improvement market expanding by more than 50% since the end of the Great Recession.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nCHALLENGES<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nHowever, strong growth brings its own challenges. Many companies on this year’s list cited “staying ahead and managing growth” as their biggest challenge.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nGrowth also requires more people, consistent with Window & Door\u2019s Industry Pulse survey released earlier this year, which revealed that 71% of respondents planned to hire in 2019.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nWindow & Door continues to explore its ongoing Workforce Development series.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nCosts also continue to rise. Most of the top 100 companies attribute this to tariffs and increased shipping costs. (For more on freight challenges, see In the Trenches.)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nFIVE-YEAR GROWTH<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nLast year, Harvey Building Products saw the largest revenue category jump this year from $100 million to $200 million, to $300 million to $500 million.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nStill, it has been working towards solid growth for several years. Since 2016, the company has acquired Soft-Lite, Northeast Building Products, and Thermo-Tech, all credited for Harvey\u2019s growth.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nStarline Windows, jumping from $300 million to $500 million, moved up to $500 million to $1 billion, attributed to a new facility in 2016 that allowed Starline to book more projects.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nMeanwhile, Earthwise Group shares that sales have increased by more than 75% over the past five years, hiring over 1,000 new employees. They also established two new manufacturing facilities and acquired three more.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nOne of the largest companies on our list, YKK AP, with over $1 billion, expanded its production capacity and moved into a new manufacturing facility totaling over 500,000 square feet.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nMany other companies on this year\u2019s list shared how acquisitions and facility expansions have helped them grow over the past five years.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
